Hi all.

Long story short my old laptop has completely died but i've got a new one now. I'm using a HDD dock to transfer files from my old hard drive to my new laptop.

I've seen this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data

I definitely want to keep my bookmarks, site preferences etc, but how i am able to transfer my plugins and their configurations too?

Also with transferring bookmarks, will they all be in the exact same place and same bookmark folders within the new Firefox? So i have a load of bookmarks in different folders on the bookmark menu and the bookmark menu drop down, so will they be displayed in the same way and order to that of my old laptop?

Thanks in advance!

You can copy the places.sqlite file from the Firefox profile folder of the old computer to the profile folder in your current Firefox profile.

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Note that the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Window 7+ versions and the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K are hidden folders.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Director: Show Folder (Linux: Open Director; Mac: Show in Finder)
