I tried to update my email password and when Thunderbird prompted me for the new password, I entered it but now I get a message stating that Thunderbird could not connect to the server. I have looked at several other posts describing a similar problem but so far have been unable to solve my issue.

Tried linking newly installed Thunderbird to an existing Microsoft account, It won't accept my existing Microsoft username (email address) and password, which I verified were correct.

My Thunderbird goes through periods where it can receive but not send emails. I am presented with the following message, see attachment. The number may vary but the message is always the same, I am being blacklisted. Can anyone tell me way this is happening, and what to do to fix it, Please? As far as I can remember, it sorts it self out, but it hasn't for over a week now and it is really frustrating. Thank you for reading this plea. Regards Ilio Pieroni

This is what most of my received e-mail messages now look like:

Some e-mails can still be read but the message is from a previously deleted e-mail and is not what the current e-mail is about. (A message from a previous e-mail has been inserted into the body of the new e-mail and the info. in the new e-mail has vanished.)

Hello Matt, this is Ilio Pieroni thanking you for explaining that my problem was caused by VPN doing a very good job in masking me out of existence, and being blacklisted. Starting on 10/01/2024 Thunderbird no longer allows me to send or receive email.

When I try to read messages using Thunderbird, I get the following: Sending of password for user XX@msn.com did not succeed. Mail server outlook.office365.com responded: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

When I try to send messages using Thunderbird, I get the following: Enter your password for XX on smtp.office365.com:

I have tried redoing the password and it does not help.

This is on a WIN/10 system. I updated to the latest version of Thunderbird and it did not help.

I checked out Thunderbird on my WIN/XP and get the same results as with WIN/10.

When I use Firefox and login to https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/, I can send and receive email as before. The same is also true with my Mobile Phone.

I cannot reset password that I need to send emailsbecause although I have saved the password you will not let me into the account. None of my own saved password work for you and I cannot reset. bold text

Considering so many companies have adopted Microsoft Exchange/Outlook365 and their IT departments have locked out other communication protocols, are there any plans to address this in Thunderbird? Right now a lot of us can't use it because of this limitation. The only solutions so far appear to be Owl (for purchase) or DavMail (which requires a separate OpenJDK 8 installation). This is a fundamental need in Thunderbird rather than a third party add-on. I like the look of Thunderbird but, alas, am not able to use it.

I am trying to connect the Thunderbird calendar to a one.com caldav calendar. It asks me for the password and after that it tells me that the credentials are wrong. The are correct!!! I tried to log inte my e-mail account at one.com and they are correct!!! Any idea where to search?

I have several POP Mail Server accounts from which I download emails to Thunderbird, including two accounts with Gmail and two with Zoho. I have them configured the same way on both a desktop and a laptop computer.

Up until Sept. 26 all were working fine. After that date, however, I've been unable to download mail from Zoho on either computer, even though I still can download from Gmail. Strangely, I get an error message when I try to download using the desktop computer, but don't get one with the laptop. In neither case, though, will the Zoho email download. The error message, titled "Error with account Zoho_cof", says:

"Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox."

I have plenty of disk space on both computers and have not changed write privileges.

Since the problem is restricted to Zoho and occurred simultaneously on both computers, I thought the problem lay with Zoho. They, however, claim that the problem lies with Thunderbird.

I've attached screenshots of the configuration page for one Zoho account (which stopped working) and for comparison one Gmail account (which continues to work).

I've run Thunderbird in Troubleshoot mode and still get the problem. Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what to do? Thanks!

For my gmail account, "sent mail" was not being saved, it was hanging, trying to save, but wouldn't. Then the same happened to my email from another account (not gmail, one from a domain on namecheap).

On thunderbird I repaired the "sent mail" folder in my gmail account (repair folder). Now I have NO messages in that folder; they are all gone. There were 4,000 sent messages that are lost at this point. I have an IMAP setup, and I am hoping there is a way to restore the sent emails to the folder.

Also -thunderbird is really slow to get messages. Just another issue that seems alive around its performance right now. Still waiting for a message code for session and it's 15 minutes later- had to grab it off web mail for my gmail account.

recently every time I open T Calendar I get annoying pop up 'Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail wants to access your google account........... then asking accept or deny - I don't use thunderbird email I use Outlook - but I enjoy the Thunderbird Calendar! - only started recently - was it in a update because I don't want to keep seeing it it is very annoying thanks so much

I recently updated to Ubuntu 24.04.01 and Thunderbird went from a debian version to being a snap version (128.2.3esr). Something clearly went wrong and Thunderbird was not added back to my dash (desktop), so I had to add it back in from apps. When I open Thunderbird it can't find any data and expects me to add all my email accounts from scratch. I tried renaming the profile directory and copied the old (non-snap) profile in it's place, but to no avail. It still acts as a "clean install". Can anyone give me an idea how I might fix it and restore my old mail accounts, please?

I have been using thunderbird for years and have 2 lightning calendars. These are stored locally in home/.thunderbird on Ubuntu - currently 24.01.1LTS, TB version just updated to 128.3.0esr. About a week ago I stopped being able to save calendar events, getting the message

An error occurred when writing to the calendar Home! Please see below for more information. Error code: MODIFICATION_FAILED. Description: Failed to write to calendar file file:///home/alasdair/.thunderbird/Home.ics: Could not create unique file in `/home/alasdair/.thunderbird' (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled thunderbird to no effect. As I am the only user of the machine all prcesses run as me, the .thunderbird directory is owned by me and I have all permissions on it, as I have for all files in the directory. I can create and edit files there no problem. I have no idea how to d=fix this.

Trying to send an email and I get a message that says login to outlook.office365.com failed. Ive reset my password to make sure it was correct and Im still getting the same message

It seems from reading on forums and googling that there is a "return receipt" function in Thunderbird. My problem is I can't find it anywhere in my software. I've searched in every category and can't even find an "Options" on the menu. I remember when Thunderbird did have a "return receipt" that was very easy to find. Now it seems that it has disappeared altogether. What gives?
