In brief - I migrated my domain internally with 1and1. I was warned to backup my emails. I backed them up with moz. All emails were deleted off of 1and1 servers as expected. I restored my profile successfully with moz and can see my emails ONLY if offline. When online, thunderbird maps to my EMPTY 1and1 server and removes all emails again. How can I keep these emails and stay online??

This sounds like you restored a mail account so that the emails still show as if on that old mail account. When the server synchronizes it matches it to the server details - the old server, which off course does not have any emails, so it deletes the emails to match the server.

In offline mode, move those emails into suitable folders in Local Folders, then they are stored on your computer.

re:I migrated my domain internally with 1and1. What you do not say is whether you have created a new IMAP mail account in Thunderbird to connect to the new server? If you have done this and want to move old server emails onto that new server:

In offline mode, put emails in Local Folders first. Then go back into online mode and as necesary, create folders , subscribe and synchronize folders in the new IMAP server account. Then try to copy an email from Local Folders into a folder on the server.
