Please stop multiple tab icons blinking when each page reloads; it's very distracting and makes it harder to spot a genuinely flashing tab showing a new e-mail.

A recent Firefox update seems to cause tab icons to blink when the page refreshes. With multiple tabs open, this becomes very distracting.

When a new message arrives, my web-based e-mail alerts me by showing a 'New Message' tab alternating with the normal tab. This is a very useful feature, but now that ALL tabs blink regularly it's almost useless.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Are the icons just flashing, or do they have any messages or alerts? Could your new mail alert be the cause?
