Can't google, get email, no news on homepage, like it is frozen

more options

I recently stopped the ads on my firefox and now I can't get my email, do a google search, get the news on my hughesnet homepage. It's like firefox is frozen. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it is still the same. Spoke to hughesnet and they said versions below 31 are the only ones that will work. Everytime I try to download the older version I end up with version 33.

What do you mean by stopping the ads on Firefox -- you installed an extension like Adblock Plus, or you had ads generated by malware??

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?
