I am running firefox 35.0 and I have a problem with the titlebar, in customization. I have set the title bar to be invisible/removed, so that the top the tabs it at the top of the screen. i.e. remove the titlebar space.

When ever I close firefox, and then restart it, the title bar is back, and that option in the settings is reenabled. I have tried launching firefox in safemode/ ad-ons disabled, but I get the same result. I have to manually disable the title bar ever launch.

I'm on Linux, so I don't know if Firefox stores this setting in the xulstore.json file that replaced localstore.rdf or that this is a setting in the browser.uiCustomization.state pref.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

I restarted firfox without ad-ons, and instead of entering safe mode, I clicked "fresh start". After all the user settings were removed, the problem has been solved. it does not revert after a reboot.
