I cannot access internet using firefox as keep getting following error on my PC running Windows 7

'The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading'

Site not busy as I can access on my laptop Network connection OK as laptop accesses internet and PC communicating with printer through same network Firewall has been checked to permit access for Firefox

Also tried the other fixes suggested -Emptying cache -Disabling accelerator

Only thing I haven't been able to try is running the various malware software as I do not have the internet access to do this with Firfox reporting this error.

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

I would still advice to do a malware check and ask a friend or go a a library to download some malware scanners and put them on a USB stick.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
