I installed Firefox and was able to import all my bookmarks from Chrome but not my saved passwords from Chrome. None of them transfered over. Why?

I intended to delete Chrome once all my data was saved in Firefox but now I cannot because none of my saved log on usernames and passwords I have saved in Chrome imported to Firefox. Is there any way to fix this? I have followed all the directions. When going to Tools/Options/Security/Saved Passwords - they are not there.

I actually have not tried to import passwords, however there are some instructions that I found that could be a great work around:

  1. In Chrome settings, as a precation, I disconnected my Google account before closing the browser. Therefore, any changes I could make to this temporary session wouldn’t ever be uploaded back to Google.
  2. Once you have the saved CSV file from Chrome, keep hold of it – we need to edit it. In Firefox, install the Password Exporter add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../?src=search note: 'Password Exporter allows you to import passwords too'

I hope this helps.

^ I found this via a Google search. http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-backup-saved-passwords-in-google-chrome-browser/

Thank you for the suggestion.

I don't know how reliable this tool is and I don't want to risk my passwords being hacked. Therefore I would rather export my passwords in CSV file directly from Chrome. I am waiting for a reply from guigs to tell me how he did that.

Thanks.

guigs is off today [it's Sunday here] and might be not be making an appearance. And she may not be following this 5 month old thread any longer.

Have you tried Google Chrome support to find out if Chrome can export its' passwords to a CSV file? When I searched, I found a lot posted back in 2008 & 2009 about exporting Chrome passwords, but the manner in which Chrome saves passwords was probably changed since then. Hence the lack of newer information about doing it from within Chrome, and the creation of ChromePass by Nirsoft.
