thunderbird keeps crashing [@ nsMsgDatabase::CopyHdrFromExistingHdr(unsigned int, nsIMsgDBHdr*, bool, nsIMsgDBHdr**) ] bug 83752 FIXED in version 38.1.0
Starting yesterday (6/26/15) Thunderbird suddenly started crashing. I can reopen it but within minutes (or seconds) it crashes again. I updated to the latest version several days/weeks ago, and just this morning updated to 38.0.1 in the hopes it would help. I have not added/change any add-ons in the past few months.
Here are some links to crash reports:

Thanks for any help!

Well you could go out to the bleeding edge and use the daily build which should have the anti crash patch in it by now,
But first just try right clicking the inbox, selecting properties and then repair. Try also the destination folder in the same manner. I think the issue may be a corrupt index which this rebuilds, but it is not really clear.

Looks like my links didn't post correctly. Here goes again:
Also, I tried safe mode and it still crashes.
One last thing, I do recall yesterday (when the problem started), that I had been fine all day while working only in POP folders. The problem I think started when I began working in a gmail IMAP folder. Could be a coincidence, not sure...

how are your technical skills? There is help needed on this crash in the way of user information and perhaps trying different versions. See bug 837552
My technical skills are ok and I'm happy to try and help.
Also, as it appears other people may have commented, it appears to be filter related.
After creating a new profile and copying over my mail folders I was ok for a little while but then started crashing again.
I then disabled all filters and stopped crashing.
I then copied over all add-ons and still no crashing.
Should I re-activate filters to see if that makes me crash again?
Let me know what I can do to help.
Based on what I read in the bug, I think try filters on pop only, then IMAP only.
I think it may well be a corrupt index. (MSF file) perhaps caused by the filters.
One thing of note is Version 38 introduced filtering on send, so having some bugs around filtering is sort of expected. I have never had an issue, but I only filter pop accounts. So I am thinking it will probably be filtering on an IMAP mail account.
I had hoped Wayne might respond, but he is pretty busy at the moment. We will see.
Thanks. However, I actually only use filters on Pop, not on my IMAP account.
So far, knock-on-wood, disabling the filters has fixed the problem (though I really miss my filters!).
Hi Matt. I wanted to ask if there is any other solution, aside from just disabling filters. I do use them a lot and really miss using them.
Thank you.

Thanks for the info. So far so good. I repaired all relevant folders and haven't crashed since. Fingers crossed that it continues to hold up!
You should hopefully find this is fixed in version 38.1.0
