When I open my internet Mozilla is the Start page. When I open another tab it is always Ask Home Page and I find it very frustrating. It was at one time firefox on all the new tabs and was very user friendly.

Hi, please try working through Remove Ask Toolbar and Ask.com Search by Malware Tips - the article is a liitle old so you may have to improvise in some areas!

Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

After removal you may need to reset your home page and search, which you can do by running the add-on SearchReset.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

Firefox 41 makes it more difficult to override the new tab page, so an unwanted extension would be the main suspect. This probably is covered by the above article, but just in case, you can disable nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right. Bear in mind that all extensions are optional, none are included with Firefox. I suggest disabling anything that you don't expect to use in the next 48 hours -- or if obviously of no value, remove.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that flush the unwanted page?
