"Firefox.exe" AVG Detection "general behavior detection"

more options

Firefox is detected as malicious in AVG. Frequently when closing Firefox, AVG will give the usual threat detected message saying that Firefox.exe is a threat. the threat name is "general behavior detection" which GOOGLE SAYS "no results for" "searching without quotes" THERE SEEMS TO BE NO INFORMATION REGARDING THIS DETECTION BY AVG AND FIREFOX!!!

Firefox does some file updates at shutdown, and add-ons may be able to detect that Firefox is shutting down and do something of their own. To try to isolate that, if this is very consistent and occurs every time you exit Firefox, could you try Firefox's Safe Mode? Since Safe Mode doesn't enable extensions, if it DOESN'T occur at shutdown from Safe Mode, it would imply that one of your extensions may be doing something AVG considers suspicious.

To invoke Firefox's Safe Mode:

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Then do a little normal browsing and exit Firefox. Any difference?
