FF Quantum zipped when I first installed it. Now, issues.
I updated to 59.0.1. I cannot believe how much this browser crawls, when it was speedy as hell when I first installed Quantum. Win 10.
It is not slower than the 57 release, but it feels like half the speed of when I first installed Quantum.
I uninstalled ALL addons, except for Adblock Plus. No change. I did that about:config adjustment (accessibility.force_disabled, change to 1). NO difference. I refreshed two weeks ago, after repeated FF not working, script stopped messages.
What can I do now?
Thank you.

Hi, accessibility.force_disabled should be reversed to default (plus you missed changing one other) and e10's are now controlled through Performance. This now can be adjusted up and down to find the sweet spot. where get best performance. Check Task Manager after each restart for the changes. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings
There appears to be an issue that only affects users who have turned off Cleartype Font rendering within their Windows Settings. So a workaround for the moment would either be to turn Cleartype back on or disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings Please check if this effecting you.
If not please try : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.1 with a Full Version Installer
If issue still there please try to create a : Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

Are you saying accessibility.force should be reversed to default (4) or having just hit RESET, I'm fine at 0 (I think)?
Having reset through Performance, are these instructions now competing with each other? So, only make e10 adjustments between 4 - 7? Not below?
I just read the post for the third time. I missed what other?
Can't even find where the Cleartype setting lies. I'm sure I didn't touch it.
If this doesn't cure it, you want me to install FF again and clean my system? Inconvenient working this hard this often, but I no doubt will.
Thank you.
I from last to first. I provided the URL for Cleartype font : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/28790/tweak-cleartype-in-windows-7/ Or open Settings and in the Search Bar Type : Adjust Clear Type Settings.
e10s so the command you used (accessibility.force_disabled, change to 1 disabled Multi Processor Support or part of it. Again, revert it back to what it was. Use the controls in Performance to set Multi-processor support. 1 = disabled. This URL is to enable and they missed 1 command also : https://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/ Again if have to do any thing do it on the Performance part of Options.
Essentially you are breaking things and making it slower Since you did a Refresh the info was stored in your Profile. Please make a backup and store safely like email it to a online email and store it and update it with others.
Create a new profile as a TEST to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.

before doing any of these things :
Last but not least, but make a new profile before doing so. : uninstall Firefox. Pkshadow,
I am sorry, some of your words are confusing and there is too much information to follow.
First of all. I have never changed Win type so I'm not going to check it. Your second link would provide instructions, though.
Via Performance, it's set at default - still. Via about:config, I reset accessibility.force_disabled back to 1.
I used to use FEBE to backup all settings. It worked beautifully, but doesn't work in Quantum. So, I'm not ready to do wizard-y stuff until I find a reasonable replacement.
I'll try reading your other instructions when my mind is clearer.
Thank you,
Everything you need to know has been provided including how to back up your Profile which is your settings. The possible solution to your issue is to work through the info I have provided.
