Hello, I have been having this problem off and on for the last month or so. When I open a new tab, either from a link or from clicking on the + (Open a new tab). This sometimes causes 2 tabs to open up, side by side, which then proceed to switch back and forth between each other, or sometimes switch back and forth between the original tab that the link came from in a loop. Sometimes I can catch one of the tabs quick enough to close it, but often i have to restart Firefox.

Thanks in advance.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
