I can receive email. My account settings/server info is correctly set up. When I try to send email, I get "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1: Relay Access Denied. Please check the message recipient and try again. I get this for all recipients. How do I fix this? I am running Thunderbird 52.9.1 on my Macbook Air with OS X 10.11.6. I tried to download the most recent version of Thunderbird 3 times but it errors out saying it is damaged and cannot be opened.

What are your outgoing server settings? If you are, e.g., trying to send on port 25 with connection security = none, and are connected to a network that is not the same as the mail provider's, then you would see that kind of error.

For the 'damaged' error:

TB and Firefox are both 'code-signed'.
