Start up computer, browser opens
Every time I start my PC, Firefox is open. I looked at Window “Start up” tab in the “Task manager” and Firefox is not listed. So why does Firefox automatically open? And how do I stop this nonsense.
My other choice is to uninstall Firefox and use a different browser.
Firefox insults my intelligence by assuming the only reason I turn on my computer is to browse the Internet. A computer can do many things. But, Firefox assumes I am stupid and only use a computer to browse the internet.
Again, how to I stop Firefox from opening every time I start my PC?

Just make sure to close Firefox before closing down your computer instead of letting Windows close Firefox because that cause your issue.
FredMcD, did you even read my question?
I see you’re a top 10 contributor. So your objective is not to solve problems. Your objective is to write nonsense so you can be a top 10 contributor.
Your response insults my intelligence.
You make a false assumption. Next time ask questions instead of assuming. That makes no sense, why would anyone shut down a computer with programs such as a web browser still open.
Second, if someone did such a thing. The programs do not automatically open. Seriously, stop trying to be a top contributor buy rambling nonsense and instead. Actually read the questions.
Are you closing Firefox before you shutdown the computer (Windows) ? If you do not close Firefox then Firefox might start automatically the next time you boot the computer are stated in the article that Fred linked to. Te prevent that you can toggle a pref on the about:config page.
- toolkit.winRegisterApplicationRestart = false
If this still happens when you close Firefox (and confirm this in the Windows Task Manager) then something else might be going on.
You can use the MSConfig program or the Autoruns utility to see what software is getting started (be cautious with disabling services).
Firefox must be causing the problem. They make the browser start when the computer starts because they want to. Somebody changed something. There is another computer here used by a different person and the problem started the same time. Stop forcing it open. I do not want the browser to start and there is no useful help system to communicate with firefox. Good by firefox. I used to like your browser but I want to start it when I want to use it and not when you force it open. You keep adding useless features then advertise ways to fix it because you make it slow. Now you forcee it to open. Good by there are other browsers.

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.
Change your default browser to another browser (IE, Chrome, Opera etc.) and restart Windows. If the NEW default browser starts then you have a "browser call" in your start-up sequence. (e.g. call to a URL, some software trying to auto-register or a virus directing you to a specific site etc.)
