No matter what browser is use, every time i open Firefox i have to activate the setting for 'open links in a new tab'. Why does this option not remain on, even though i save the setting. This has been occurring for a couple of months now.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Fred McD sent me a reply by no-reply email. I just want to add that this has only been a problem for about the past 2 months. I have been using Firefox for over 10 years and this particular setting remained set always. So Firefox has made a change to this. Very irritating.

Hi John, when you change a setting in a website, there are two ways that could be applied continuously going forward:

(A) If the setting is saved in your account on the site and you are logged in to your account

(B) If the site saves the setting in a cookie on your browser and the cookie is preserved from one session to the next (i.e., it is a persistent cookie, not a session cookie, and doesn't get cleared when you exit the browser)
