I can't seem to send emails for my gmail account in Thunderbird. I get an error that Login to account "Google mail" failed. The password is correct. (Confirmed by logging into gmail online.) I'm using Thunderbird 68.12.1 (64-bit) on a Mac running OS 10.15.7.

Is the authentication on the incoming and outgoing servers set to OAuth2? Are cookies allowed for *.google.com in Preferences/Privacy?

Hunh? All I know is it worked 2 days ago and doesn't work now.

Cookies are allowed. I don't know how to check OAuth2.

Thanks for trying to help. I think maybe I'm not up for Thunderbird.

Authentication is defined in the Server Settings and Outgoing Server (SMTP) sections of Tools/Account Settings. If it's 'normal password', change it to OAuth2, restart TB, enter the account password in the OAuth browser window when prompted.

Thanks for your help. I changed to OAuth2, restarted, confirmed with Google, entered password, and I still can't send email.

Is the outgoing server smtp.gmail.com on port 587, STARTTLS, or port 465, SSL/TLS? Are you connecting through a VPN?
