Is there a straight forward Firefox option in the options dropdown menu that needs to be applied to get the visited links to highlight in purple?

Normally if I search eBay for an item and save the search in a separate page as newly listed items I can later return to the search and look at new items that have been listed without going over older items that I have previously viewed because the older items that I have viewed are highlighted in purple

I had to uninstall and then reinstall Firefox this week because Firefox would not load

I have deleted cookies and history

I was having the same issue for the last four or five weeks before Firefox crashed

The issue is not completely straight forward because if I search any sellers other items the listings that I have viewed highlight in Purple as does my eBay summary

Some websites set their own visit color that may not be noticeable easy like for instance Google does on their search page.

You aren't using permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History) ?

Does the history otherwise work properly (i.e. you see these visited link in the history) ?

This can be caused by a problem with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite databases in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox and retry.

Hi

First of all thank you for the reply as it was very kind of you to take the time to do so

I looked at "Verify Integrity" and it said the following

Integrity

> Task: checkIntegrity + The places.sqlite database is sane + The favicons.sqlite database is sane > Task: invalidateCaches + The caches have been invalidated > Task: checkCoherence + The database is coherent > Task: expire - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: originFrecencyStats - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: vacuum - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: stats - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: _refreshUI - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task.

As there were errors I guesssed that "Task: _refreshUI" meant refresh so I did but nothing changed

Below are the results after I did the refresh

Integrity

I don't have any add on's at the moment, I did have three seperate add blockers at one point but they were slowing the pages down so I had disabled them a while back

I removed Adobe Flash Player and Java a few years back as I found that the two don't work well with Firefox

I downloaded Adobe Flash Player and installed it about two days ago and the pages seem to been loading a lot faster so I will leave it working while it is behaving

Odd thing today the text size and the previously visited links are now showing up in "purple" again

I have just checked for Firefox updates and it has downloaded a newer version so I now need to check it the problem is still solved after the restart

I have just finished doing the restart after the Firefox update and everything still seems ok
