File downloads through Firefox on Android is not working on my phone. For example, here is a file in an email accessed through FireFox on Android

I tap download and nothing happens. I have used Astro File Manager to search for the file. It is found no where in the file system of the phone.

Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you.

I discovered the downloads work only when connected via wifi. I suspect this has nothing to do with the browser.

I thought there is a way to enable downloads via cellular connection, but I cannot find a setting for that.

EDIT:

There is a "Download Manager" service on Android (Q, version 10 here):

  • com.android.providers.downloads
  • com.android.providers.downloads.ui

... You can try to clear storage and cache, although pls be careful as I have no idea whether this'll mess with anything in the Downloads folder (possibly "CLEAR STORAGE" may, right - so better to first move whatever needs keeping). Also, before that, there's always Firefox Focus, Firefox Light and other browsers you could install to see where the problem actually lies. :)

^^ Ok, so clearing Storage & cache for Download Manager and Downloads didn't touch any files in the Downloads folder for me, which may not be the case otherwise; you can never know when it'll try to get cute, as far as I'm concerned anyway. xD
