Please advise, how can I delete the send tray in the local folder which is pre-existing and undeletable. Or teach me what is the purpose of that tray for.

it has one really essential and obscure purpose that I see. If there is a problem placing a sent mail in the account folder (not exactly a rarity for IMAP accounts.) The local folders sent is used so the sent email copy is not lost.
