Hi,

I was using Firefox to watch movies on Netflix/Amazon Prime and YouTube and since yesterday, the browser randomly skips ahead 10 seconds when I'm watching the video. It happened throughout the videos and it was a little cumbersome having to go back every time it happened.

I would like to point out that I deleted the cache and restarted the browser, making sure it's the updated version. This has never happened before.

Any help/brainstorming ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Some players will skip ahead or back when you press the right or left arrow key, and there might also be a mouse or touchpad gesture for it. Just wondering whether a ghost (or more likely a mechanical glitch) might be triggering that somehow.

Yeah, I didn’t use any gestures or keys when the glitch occurred. That’s what’s baffling to me. Would using them via screen sharing apps like Zoom cause any third party app issues?

That's an interesting question, I have not tested that. I don't think the screen recorder could trigger any player controls.

Firefox does have system media key integration for audio volume, and play/pause, but I don't think there is integration for other player controls, at least not on Windows.

Did you try to reboot ?

I’m on Mac. I was just watching the videos, I didn’t have to play or pause anything. And no one else had controls of my screen to do it.
