This error might be the result of the Firefox update on 18 Feb. MS Edge works fine, however.

I have tried linking to other Search Engine home pages and also setting HTTPS-Only Mode to 'ON' for all windows - both without success.

Interestingly, 'thumbnail' links saved on the Firefox homepage work fine too. The problem seems to only occur when I try to input a new web query in the search box.

This could be a problem with your Norton security software. Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.


You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet, select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
