I am troubleshooting for a friend who is running Thunderbird 102.9.1.

He is using Thunderbird with an email account on cinci.rr.com mail server. It has been working for some time on a PC I set up for him last fall. Starting earlier this week, he has not been able to send an email to any person with a gmail.com account. He can send to any of the other email addresses in his contact list but not gmail.com addresses. He is able to use cinci.rr.com webmail and send to the gmail addresses. He does not get any message telling him the email we not delivered.

I sent him a message from my gmail account. He was able to receive it and he replied to it. There is a copy of the email in his sent folder, however, I never received it. I checked all of the boxes in my gmail account but nothing shows up.

I think there was a new update that came out earlier this week and am checking if this may have anything to do with the problem.

He likes Thunderbird but is concerned over the problem.

Thanks! Terry,

When he sends from his online account, do you receive it? If it does not, there is an account issue. If it does, then it's possible something is being added to his sent mail from Thunderbird, such as a sig file from an antivirus program. Maybe if he then uses his online account to forward the message from Sent folder, you can view the actual contents.

Thanks for you response. He had McAfee on his PC. It was expired so we removed it and it reverted to MS Defender for Virus protection. He went to his sent box in Thunderbird. He opened the sent message (that I didn't get) and forwarded it to me to an account at hotmail. I got it now problem.

He then opened the sent message and tried sending it to my gmail account and like before no error message and I have not received the email.

I will send this information to gmail to see if they have any answers.

Thanks for you for your input. Feel free to offer anything else you think may be helpful.

I think the issue may just be that he is using the wrong server settings to send mail. cinci.rr.com has fallen out of use by former RoadRunner customers.

The current owner of the service (Spectrum) https://www.spectrum.net/support/inte.../mobile-email-setup are;

Username: Your full Spectrum-provided email address
   Password: Your Spectrum-provided email password
   SSL/TLS: On
   Protocol: IMAP
   Requires Authentication: Yes, or checked
Incoming Email Server: mail.twc.com Port: 993
Outgoing Email Server: mail.twc.com Port: 587

Note: Thunderbird will ask for the account passwords when they are first required and offer to save them. They are not entered earlier

I can find no setting on the Spectrum web site for POP mail, so I really don't know if they even offer it anymore. But as this issue appears to be about outgoing mail. The outgoing server settings is what needs checking.
