Login In Forms

I have a simple html/php form that I believe is getting high jacked by Firefoxes "autofill" function. After filling in the username/passwords/confirmation fields and hitting submit, I get a popup that says "View Saved Passwords" (and submittal back to the server is blocked). Setting "signon.showAutoCompleteFooter" to false in advanced preferences fixes this problem, but that only solves it in my personal browser and not the general user. Asking the general user to mess with their Advanced Preferences is not an option. Is there someway using html to get this form to work without using the autofill feature grabbing it?

Code: <form method='POST' action='my_profile.php?idupdate=2'>

  <fieldset>
  <legend>User Personal Login </legend>
  • Login Name (up to 30 characters): <input type='text' name='nlogin_name' value='$loginName' size='30' pattern='(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z]).{3,}' title='Must contain at least one number, one uppercase and one lowercase letter, and be at least 3 or more characters in length'>
  • Login Password (up to 15 charaters): <input type='password' name='nlogin_pwd1' size='15' pattern='(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z]).{8,}' title='Must contain at least one number, one uppercase and one lowercase letter, and at least 8 or more characters '>
  • Retype Password for confirmation: <input type='password' name='nlogin_pwd2' size='15' pattern='(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z]).{8,}' title='Must contain at least one number, one uppercase and one lowercase letter, and at least 8 or more characters '>

?>

<font face="Verdana"><input type="submit" value="Submit" name="B1"><input type="reset" value="Reset" name="B2"></font>

 </form>

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to the Firefox Support Forum. I understand that you are experiencing an issue with Firefox's autofill function interfering with your HTML/PHP login form. I'll do my best to help you with this.

To prevent Firefox's autofill from interfering with your form, you can try adding the autocomplete="off" attribute to your input fields. This attribute tells the browser not to offer any autofill suggestions for those fields. Here's an example of how you can modify your code:

html Copy code <form method='POST' action='my_profile.php?idupdate=2'>

 <fieldset>
   <legend>User Personal Login</legend>
   Login Name (up to 30 characters): <input type='text' name='nlogin_name' value='$loginName' size='30' autocomplete='off' pattern='(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z]).{3,}' title='Must contain at least one number, one uppercase and one lowercase letter, and be at least 3 or more characters in length'>
   Login Password (up to 15 characters): <input type='password' name='nlogin_pwd1' size='15' autocomplete='off' pattern='(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z]).{8,}' title='Must contain at least one number, one uppercase and one lowercase letter, and at least 8 or more characters '>
   Retype Password for confirmation: <input type='password' name='nlogin_pwd2' size='15' autocomplete='off' pattern='(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z]).{8,}' title='Must contain at least one number, one uppercase and one lowercase letter, and at least 8 or more characters '>
 </fieldset>
 <font face="Verdana">
   <input type="submit" value="Submit" name="B1">
   <input type="reset" value="Reset" name="B2">
 </font>

</form> By adding the autocomplete='off' attribute to each input field, Firefox's autofill feature should no longer interfere with your form.

I hope this solution helps you. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to ask.

I created a variation of my login test page with a password confirmation field (https://jeffersonscher.com/res/logintest-conf.html) and it does show the footer, but it doesn't seem to inhibit posting. Do you mean this as a visual matter -- it gets in the way on your page -- or the browser completely refuses to submit the form, or login fails for some reason?
