Every time I enter a new password at https://secure.newegg.com/identity/signin, I click on Save but the browser does not save it! When I try to log in, Firefox always inserts the previous password that was saved. I have Reset the password twice on the website and have mentioned it to Newegg at least twice now and so far, I have not been able to resolve this problem.

This only occurs with the Newegg website. Why is this?

This is occurring on a computer running Windows 10 Pro version 22H2, Build 19045.3693

I request that this be resolved soon.

Thanks,

Wayne Carpenter

You can edit or replace the password manually. Enter passwords through the 3bar menu or with about:logins in the address bar. Select the domain in the left panel then the button labelled edit.

Alternatively, you can delete the entry and use the + sign at the top of the left panel to enter the login.

This does not resolve the problem where Firefox does not save the password I enter on the website after clicking on Save. I should not have to enter it manually.

You should at least be able to stop it showing the previous password by deleting it manually from about:logins. Does that work?

This does not address the issue. I want to have Firefox remember the password that was saved.

The Newegg website uses autocomplete="username" for the username filed and that causes Firefox to not recognize this as a login form, Firefox expects autocomplete="text". You can see that in the Inspector. If you remove autocomplete="username", then Firefox will show "Use Saved Login/Password" in the right-click context menu and you should be able to fill username and password.

Possible JavaScript bookmarklet to fix the login form in this reply:

You can create a new bookmark and paste the JavaScript code in its URL field where you would normally enter the address of the website.

Thank you for investigating this issue. So the problem really is with the newegg.com website. I plan on looking more into the workaround but with the workaround I wouldn't be able to just enter newegg in the search bar and then login if logged out. I will report this issue to newegg. (They said it was a browser issue.)

Thanks

This is merely about the website not being compatible with Firefox. Some browsers do the opposite and provide workarounds for coding used by websites, Firefox is less flexible and forgiving in most cases.
