Firefox is my default browser however if find that it does demand a significant amount of RAM whilst running for example today it is running 800 Mb with only 5 tabs open but earlier it was using 1200 Mb. This demand is slowing down my computer as other programmes are being impacted. Is there any way of restricting or limiting the amount of RAM being used by Firefox. Currently it is normally at the top of programmes using the greatest amount of RAM.

Close processes in about:processes (Shift+Esc) to free up memory.

Reduce the number of processes per site by changing dom.ipc.processCount.webIsolated to 1 in about:config.

Make tab unloading more aggressive by increasing the value of browser.low_commit_space_threshold_mb in about:config.

Install an extension like Auto Tab Discard to get more control.
