Were you working offline?
No, I was online. I received messages but I couldn't send a reply. The Send Now in my file wasn't there. Can you help?
Are you using an addon? "Send Now' is not, to my knowledge, a default button. If online, the menu bar has the "Send' button.
If you are in the compose screen, click the alt key to show menu bar if it isn't visible. then click view>toolbars and tick the composition toolbar.
Thank you, David, but I didn't see the composition bar. I still can't send email and the old file that had send now on it isn't there. Pat
I tried, but the menu didn't show up and the tool bar didn't have a composition bar. Pat
If the "Send Now" feature has disappeared from Thunderbird, here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check if you are in Offline Mode:
Thunderbird may be in Offline Mode, which hides the "Send Now" feature. Go to File > Offline and make sure Work Offline is not checked. Check Account Settings:
Ensure your outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct. Go to Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP). Verify the correct SMTP server is selected for your email account, and confirm its configuration (server address, port, and authentication method) is correct. Check if the Menu is Hidden:
If you're not seeing the "Send Now" option under the File menu, try restoring the default menu layout. Go to View > Toolbars and ensure the Mail Toolbar is checked. Try Sending in Safe Mode:
Restart Thunderbird in Safe Mode by holding Shift when you open it. If the issue is resolved in Safe Mode, an add-on or theme might be causing the problem. Disable them to identify the culprit. Reinstall Thunderbird:
If none of the above steps work, try reinstalling Thunderbird. Your email data won’t be affected as it’s stored in your profile folder. These steps should help restore the "Send Now" feature and allow you to send emails again.
