I have gone into tools, Add-ons, and then clicked uninstall on "Search Toolbar" which is supposed to remove Bing toolbar, but as soon as I restart, the add-on window pops up and says a new add-on has been installed, and shows the Search Toolbar again. My homepage has been changed several times to "Bing.Zugo" or something of that sort. I can't find anyway to remove this, as Malware scans, and AVG scans have brought up nothing, and I can't find anything else in my Add/Remove Programs list, or in my Program Files, I'm running the most current version of 3.6 Firefox, and am running Windows XP SP3

At "about:support" URL (without quotes), find the id of the toolbar Add-on. Then in Profile folder/extensions/ directory , delete the folder named as the id of the toolbar, restart Firefox.

I'm using Windows XP SP3, with Firefox 3.5.

The newest version of SUPER (an audio/video format translator) installed this without asking me. (Versions from early 2010 are okay.) Immediately afterwards, I found that Firefox would crash frequently (I think it was whenever I downloaded a file), and uninstall the sound driver, and I switched to Firefox 4 beta. That solved the crashing, but the soundcard driver would still sometimes uninstall itself when I used Firefox. and I had to switch to using Chrome.

I tried to remove Zugo using "Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Applications", but later got a notice from ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 that said

4/6/2011 9:04:21 PM Startup scanner file C:\Program Files\Search Toolbar\SearchToolbar.dll a variant of Win32/Toolbar.Zugo potentially unwanted application unable to clean

So I went to C:\Program Files\Search Toolbar, and there was an uninstaller there, which I ran. Perhaps it's gone now. I don't know.

Hi, everyone

After you've uninstalled the (any) toolbar and restarted your browser, usually you have to manually set your home page to finish the process.

You can see how to do that here: for Chrome: http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=95314

for Fire Fox: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page

for Internet Explorer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/252464 Hope that helped d

I use Windows 7 operating system. To remove BING as your Firefox startup search engine, type "about:config" at the address space, then type "URL" for search. Then, type "BING" for search, and you will see www.bing.com appears at two places (one is for startup default). Right click to select "Modify," then type "www.google.com". After you re-open Firefox, Google will show up instead of Bing.

Have a nice day.

My younger brother could not get rid of Zugo toolbar, too. Very stubborn thing...We are looking for a good tool to remove it and that is why we enter this Mozilla forum again. But we don't get satisfied info so we decide to remove it manually with the guide found on Google: http://blog.teesupport.com/how-to-guide-remove-win32toolbar-zugo-manually-and-thoroughly/. Hope we can remove it completely finally.
