I HAVE MANAGED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM

for those that might have the same problem the solution that i found was to get a copy of firefox version 3.6.3 then install 3.6.3 when the installer starts up it does a bit of house keeping then goes into the installation .once the installation is complete go to the help tab on firefox browser and click check for update . things should be back to normal after updating to the newest version of firefox ..
