different bookmarks
There are three different types of bookmarks - toolbar bookmarks, menu bookmarks, and unsorted bookmarks. I want to save my bookmarks so I can restore them to a new computer. Do I need to backup all three of the different types of bookmarks or only one of them and if only one, which one?
I have twice before, when I wanted to transfer my bookmarks from one computer to another, backed-up the toolbar bookmarks, the menu bookmarks, and the unsorted bookmarks. I have also exported the toolbar bookmarks, the menu bookmarks, and the unsorted bookmarks. I now have a total of 12 different files with bookmarks and if I try to save all my bookmarks again to move them to a new computer, I am going to have a total of 18 files with bookmarks. I have never restored any of the bookmarks in those 12 files because I have not been able to figure out how to do it.
Should I be exporting or backing up my bookmarks?
Do I need to backup or export all three of the bookmarks - toolbar bookmarks, menu bookmarks, and unsorted bookmarks or do I need to export or backup only one of the three different types of bookmarks and if only one, which one?
Finally, how do I proceed to move all 18 of my bookmark files onto my new computer so I do not overwrite any and so I don't have any duplicates?

If you export the bookmarks to an HTML file or create a JSON backup then all bookmarks are saved in one file. You can't save individual bookmark folders.
