Over the past couple of weeks of using firefox 4, I have had the annoying problem of tabs opening after I have closed them.

Ex: I go to two sites (cnn.com and abc.com). I close the cnn one and continue on my way. Some time later (seconds to minutes), it opens back up again.

or

I go to two sites (as mentioned previously. I close the cnn tab, but a few seconds or minutes later the tab that I am CURRENTLY on (the abc.com tab) will redirect back to that cnn.com page.

Both of these have been happening on and off for some time now, and it is getting real annoying. I tried looking up the answer and found someone talking about deleting sessionstore.js or something but I could not find it in about:config.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
