I'm using my Firefox browser in the office. And we have proxy configurations to follow in order to browse the web.

Ever since migrating to Firefox 4 I've been experiencing the dilemma of my proxy configuration being reset to proxy 127.0.0.1, port 8888 whenever pop-ups appear (spam or otherwise). Of course, this is very annoying considering I could never visit websites that require the appearance of pop-ups and I have to re-enter the correct proxy config over and over again.

Please help.

Hi cor-el, that didn't solve my problem. I downgraded my Firefox into the previous version (3.something) and the problem has been passed on to my previously-OK Firefox.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
