Troubleshooting on yahoo messenger says that it had a problem with the HTTP connection. It says to use IE to open tools and then go to internet options to verify my existing settings (proxy server settings). I'm not sure how to do this on Firefox. Thank you in advance.

Try the following solutions and whichever setting works, keep it Permanent:

-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar

1) go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> click "Settings..." button infront of Connection -> select option2 -> Click OK -> OK

2) go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> click "Settings..." button infront of Connection -> select option3 -> Click OK -> OK

3) go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> click "Settings..." button infront of Connection -> select option1 -> Click OK -> OK

Check which solution works.

This is a problem of Yahoo! Messenger

Open Yahoo! Messenger -> go to Messenger Menu -> click Preferences -> Connection section -> select Radio Button Option1 "Connect Directly to the Internet" -> select the type of Internet Connection you are using (Dialup, BroadBand DSL/Cable, High Speed T1/LAN) -> select your Home Country -> click OK -> Exit Yahoo! Messenger

Now Restart Yahoo! Messenger. Check and tell if its working.
