I have AVG Security suite on my Windows 7 PC. After updating to Firefox 6 I got a message that Firefox does not recognise AVG Homesafe. Please can you advise why and whether there is a remedy?

My problem is similar, except that I receive a warning before upgrading that AVG SafeSearch is not compatible with Firefox 6 and will be disabled until an update is available, but who knows when that will be. I'm really getting annoyed by Mozilla. First, the Google Toolbar was disabled when upgrading to Firefox 5, and now AVG will be disabled. I will not be applying this upgrade and will probably move to a different browser. These compatibility issues are unacceptable. It's not as if these add-ons are from unknown companies.

AVG Safe Search is still NOT compatible with Firefox 6 yet, only the AVG Toolbar is. They are working on it right now and will release the next update once it is done.

Here's the information from AVG forum, read the last post by DrDemento:

It is the responsibility of AVG to update and make their toolbars and other add-ons compatible with Firefox.

Google decided that they will no longer produce the Google Toolbar for Firefox beyond Firefox 4. Future versions of Google toolbar will only work with IE7-9. Google Toolbar is not available on any other browser, even Google's own browser.
