How do I STOP Firefox (5 or 6) opening tabs when launched, the tabs were closed but the same four keep re-appearing!

My Problem: I can't find any way of launching the latest version(s) of Firefox without seeing four tabs 'restored' every time.

Firefox 6.0 is running on Windows XP SP3 - I had the identical problem with Firefox 5

The four tabs are:

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/6.0/whatsnew/ http://speeddial.uworks.net/updated.html http://noscript.net/?ver=2.1.2.6&prev=2.1.1.1 http://update.downloadhelper.net/index.html

I've now seen them dozens of times and the novelty has worn off. I've deleted them individually, tried closing via the Windows 'Close' icon, closing via the File 'Exit', all to no avail.

I've tried the 'Show a blank page' option, tried using the SpeedDial xul file as my home page, I've hunted around the on-line documentation and can find info on how to make sure Firefox restores tabs - but nothing on how to stop Firefox restoring tabs that you don't want!

Please help...

It is also possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well. Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

I Use Ccleaner to delete my history for FireFox and Internet Explorer. They both save old info on the Hard Drive that is no longer needed.

When I go to use firefox after the scan, only one tab opens.
If you want Ccleaner to save certain cookies, then go into options and then go from there, it is very easy to use and it help keep my Computers all clean of internet junk saved on the HD.
