For no apparent reason I lose my Internet connection with Firefox 6.02. Chrome & IE still have a connection. When I close Firefox and try to reopen it I get a dialog box saying:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

When I do Cntrl/Alt/Delete Firefox does NOT show as running. So, I end up having to restart my computer to get Firefox back.

Thanks cor-el!

I see now that I should have just pasted the dialog box warning text into the Mozilla search window and the answer would have magically appeared for me. Computers are so great when they work right!! Thanks again!

I see how to get out of the bind easily. Now, though, I have to figure out the plug-in or extension or whatever it is that's causing the hang in the first place. Wish me luck.
