I have pop up blocker enabled. Have cleared my exceptions folder. I am receiving pop ups from Firefox - the Firefox emblem is in the upper left hand corner - cannot seem to make this stop. I have run a current version of Malware and Virus protection and everything is clear. These pop ups started about 1 week ago and are very irritating. Why is Firefox sending me irritating popups? How do I make this stop? I have XP

That's a ValueClick adserver and it is blocked by my hosts file and popups go into a tab so I get page that essentially won't show anything and a huge warning message from "WOT:" extension that it is an undesirable site.

Adblock Plus might do a better job of blocking it, not on or just on the anrdoezrs . net, but by blocking a file that would bring it up. Adblock Plus by itself does nothing, it needs filters. You can find out more about both Adblock Plus and a hosts file at the following link:

Basically install the "Adblock Plus" extension, and the subscribe to the "Easylist" subscription. I went to QVC.com and blindly clicked on links on the page and did not get any pop-up pages so it either works, or is not from there, or they don't have any idea of what ads to send yet.

Without the urlname on the pop-up, I have no idea what you are referring to that Firefox is sending them (or do you mean not stopping them). I don't know if you can right-click in the pop-up and perhaps get a "View Page Info" or not, after use of properties was weakened.

Basically the "Adblock Plus" extension stops things I don't want. At least some pop-up windows I have going into a new tab.

Thanks for your help.....here is the url (I think) http://track24.vampmarketing.com/tracking202/redirect/cl.php?pci=510987926

I was on QVC and this popped up. It has the Firefox logo in the upper left corner just before the address. Its happening alot and not just this specific popup, its always something different pertaining to the site that I am on. I guess I thought that Firefox was sponsoring these popups because their logo is appearing in the corner. At least that is what I gathered from the Firefox web site when I went into the help section and asked about popups. It shows that pop ups that "popup" that have the Firefox logo in the corner are from Firefox.....but then again, I may not be reading what they are saying correctly.

I am not really good at computer type stuff, which I am sure you have guessed by now. But if you think the AdBlock Plus will help, I will certainly give that a try.

I downloaded Adblock Plus and it seems to have taken care of my problem! I've been going from site to site and have not had any pop ups come up. Thank you so very much for your help and very kind assistance.

I have a windows vista system and none of these replies are any help for me. I downloaded adblock plus and when I searched for blogs it still redirects me to an ad page instead. There's got to be a better way to this, you'd think..never had any problem till I updated firefox. It's getting frustrating. I even hit the back button to go back to the blogs I was searching but nothing loads. So I go all the way back to the search page to click it again and all it does is redirects me back to the same ad page.

@devan -- did you read the links (which have more links), did you subscribe to the EasyList subscription filter (like EasyList USA which may be EasyList English now) after installing the Adblock Plus extension. It would be almost impossible to not realize at least some improvement afterwards (more likely a big improvement afterwards) . Without you providing information as to where you are starting, and what you are clicking on, it is impossible to duplicate what you are doing.

Thanks I finally figured it out and hopefully it solved the problem. So far when I click on links from a yahoo search engine. It no longer redirects me to some ad site. I recovered my computer from an earlier date and it seems to be working fine again.
