Hi there is a reference to software I uninstalled within the options/applications listing and I want to remove it. What file do I delete and or edit in order to remove the reference? Using Firefox 10.0.2 - windows vista Thanks
Basically just a listing of software that was uninstalled but left behind a reference to its own file type under options/applications.
I have also noticed that the option to save tabs upon exit seems to be missing from this version, or am I incorrect and there is an option to restore this function. Thanks in advance,

You would have to edit or delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder.
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions#Resetting_download_actions
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder

see File types and download actions
for save tabs upon exit see: Options window - General panel - startup select Show my windows and tabs from last time
thank you

Thank you ideato. The save tabs upon exit works well enough, unfortunately I was unable to remove the reference Nemp from the options / applications list. I upgraded to Firefox 11.0 in the interim and tried the about:config resets, as well as searching for the RDF files. The only RDF file I was able to find is the install.rdf. Thank you for your time ideato. I will keep looking and when I fix the issue I will share it.

Thank you cor-el. I edited the mimeTypes.rdf file per your instructions and the reference is gone. Problem solved. Thank you very much.
If you delete the mimetypes.rdf file, does it get automatically reconstructed? What program do you use to edit the file? When I tried to open it, I was asked where windows should search for the program
How did you edit the mimes file? I can't even open it
