I can not type in the search bar
Windows 7 and version Firefox 15.0. The search bar doesn't respond to the mouse or the keyboard though I can place the cursor in the search bar window

Note that you still see the placeholder text in the search bar if you click in that bar.
The placeholder with grayed text disappears once you start typing, but is there if the input field is empty.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Thanks for your response. I forgot to say that I tried a reset and it didn't fix the problem
