The update process from FF 16 to FF 17 indicated that the Norton Toolbar was no longer supported. Is this a Mozilla or a Norton issue?

hello aamstutz, in principle it's the job of third-party-vendors that provide addons for firefox to make the necessary adjustments to their products. according to symantec they've already released a compatibility update for the toolbar which should make it compatible with firefox 17, please run the symantec liveupdate: https://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Firefox-17-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/m-p/853424

it is a norton issue, you'll have to wait until they update their add-on

barzogh, they have updated it already for couple days now as can be seen in the https://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Firefox-17-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/m-p/853424 link that was posted above.

The Norton Toolbar and Norton Internet Safe are two different things. I used to have Internet Safe appear in my normal bookmarks without having the Norton Toolbar present. Now it appears you cannot have it without the Norton Toolbar.

hello, the norton product documentation also refers to the Internet Safe standalone version - the procedure should be the same as for the other products, run liveupdate: https://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Firefox-17-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/853416

You can run the LiveUpdate all day long, but unless you realize the Internet Safe is now something you can only access from the Norton Toolbar - and that the name is different - you will be looking in the wrong place for it.

The LiveUpdate is critical to recovering the Norton Toolbar, but users might not realize it is no longer a "quick link".
