I am using Firefox 18.0.1 when I go to the comments section on an article, particularly CNN and The Hill, once I start typing a reply the comments section will disappear. a refresh restores the comments, and sometimes if I try to reply my typing is saved, although not always. I have taken to typing replies in notepad.exe and pasting them in because I don't dare try to type on the web page. I believe I had one of the 16.n.n versions before the upgrade, and have only developed the problem recently. it didn't occur until 18 was installed for some time.

This does seem like a FF 18 problem. Try re-installing Firefox, and see if the problem continues. Hope this helps, Jeremy Eramian

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Pres "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
