Firefox 19 - unable to connect to secure sites?
Ever since I updated to Firefox 19 I am unable to open certain pages like the AOL log in page and other log in pages that appear to be secure pages. Even there are Mozilla pages that won't open. The browser just hangs (nothing shows up in the browser tab) even though the address appears in the address bar. I had to use another browser just to report this problem! What broke with the update? I have no intention of upgrading any other of my Firefox browsers in my other machines until this get sorted out.

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once?

Just tried it in safe mode and it worked fine.
Checked the extensions as recommended. Found one that was causing the problem. Seems to be solved. Thanks.
thanks for reporting back. do you remember which one has caused it? maybe this will help other users with the same issue searching here for a solution...
Yes, it is a McAfee extension called ScriptScan Product Version. Once I disabled it, the problem went away.

I have a similar problem since updating to 19.0. In my case, it is a problem with old, less-secure ciphers:
Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)
I have used about:config to set security.ssl3.rsa_rc4_40_md5;true, which is how I got this to work for older versions of Firefox. It is still set to true after update to 19.0, but access no longer works.
