Timezone is off by 1 hour on somewebsites

If I visit certain sites with event information, the time is off by 1 hour (early) in Firefox only. If I visit the same site with Internet Explorer, Chrome or Safari, the time is correct. How do I set the time zone in FireFox?

Yes, they all show the time the same. (on your link) I asked a few friends to try those sites I mentioned and they all said the time was correct in FF. I just upgraded one of the computers to latest version of Firefox and it now shows the time correctly on that website and others. I have auto-update turned off, as it can be annoying if you are somewhere on slow wifi and it says "time remaining" for upgrade '18 hours' ... Hope this fixes the 'crashing' as well, that version crashed at least once per day ... it was rather annoying ... and I tend to use FF more than other browsers. But it always recovered with all the tabs intact.

All 4 browsers are on 1 computer, all connected to internet same, no proxy servers or anonymizers, just straight forward.

So, it seems this is due to bug in version 23.0.1?

Browsers are different ... you can not use Chrome, IE or Safari on this page ... hit the Reply button and absolutely nothing happens ... no reply box. Strange that Mozilla site hates everyone but Firefox :-)

Thanks for your help!

Sorry was trying to reply in Internet Explorer but this reply box don't show up in Internet Explorer!

This is one site: http://edmontonkids.com/Events/Edmonton-Events/vw/3/itemid/1860/sm/1651/d/20130919

As I said, it shows correct when using IE, Chrome or Safari or posting to Facebook. Just Firefox is off by 1 hour.

Did you get a difference in time between IE & FF? Did FF display the time in the headline, the same as it says in body copy? Thursday, September 19, 2013 4:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Websites typically would use JavaScript to read your date and time from the Windows system clock. This should be consistent between browsers, however. Can you try this test page in various of your browsers and see whether they agree?

http://www.w3schools.com/js/tryit.asp?filename=tryjs_timing_clock

It's also possible for websites to sniff your ISP and use that information to determine your time zone. Again, however, it's not obvious why the result would be different in different browsers, unless you connect differently (e.g., proxy or anonymizing service used in one browser but not another).

Hi jbarendr, for future reference, if you have more crashes, you can share your crash data with forum volunteers by posting some crash IDs as described in this article: Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly).
