when i go to adobe check flash site, the big red squares bounce around - that means flash is working, correct. Yet I can get video on some sites. I turned my security software completely off, ofr a test, no firewall, no system protection, still wouldnt play the cnn.com video. Is there something about some of these sites that I need to tweak in my firefox options?

Note that Firefox may show an icon on the left end of the location bar in case plugins are blocked.

of course that was no help cor-el. I didnt say I seen an icon and dont know what to do with it. I give up here.

I will try calling my service provider and see if they are somehow blocking or throttling.

actually it's not service provider related as I am on the same network with my windows 7 laptop and have no trouble seeing videos. Guess it's back to beating on firefox.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.
