How do I always use full width of my screen instead of only about 1/2 for content? Menu bars are full width, page content is not.

I wish to use the full width of my screen at all times. The menu bars are full width but content is not, in fact is about 1/2 of possible width. I purchased a large wide screen to be able to use it without having to increase the size of all fonts.

Many websites use a fixed width layout and do not expand automatically to fill the space available. This may be for aesthetic reasons, or for readability (it's harder for your brain to process long lines).

Firefox doesn't have a built-in feature to change the layout, but there might be an add-on which does that.

I understand you don't want to increase the size of fonts, but... Firefox's zoom feature also expands the layout and image proportionately to preserve the site's overall design. This article describes that feature in more detail: Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages.

If you find that you are constantly zooming all sites by a similar amount, there are add-ons you can use to set that as your default zoom level. For example:
