The developer box constantly opens. When I open an email, when I add a blank tab, when I type anything. Sometimes it opens attached to the bottom of the page and sometimes it opens in a pop-up window. I've tried resetting, disabling add-ons, scanning for viruses, restart, etc. How do I get rid of this problem? I have never used developer and have never turned it on. It just keeps popping up on its own.

Check Tools > Web Developer and look at the hotkeys, especially Shift+Ctrl+K or Shift+F2. Make sure you're not clicking or pressing either by mistake, also verify that you don't have a stuck key/erratic mouse pointer. Try to update or reinstall Firefox if nothing helps, ninite.com is a nice tool to do this quickly with the up-to-date package.

You can disable the various Developer tools by setting the corresponding devtools pref to false on the about:config page (use devtools.*.enabled in its own search bar).
