Thunderbird Charset does not work properly like Outlook or Zimbra
I receive mails from several different languages to different email account and unfortunately I'm not able to get the Thunderbird charset to fix strange characters. Changing Thunderbird charset may fix the body of the message but it may damage the subject or other received messages.
So, auto-detection doesn't look to be working properly.
The problem increases with a thread conversation.
Zimbra works OK in that, but the software is a nightmare to use.
Had to purchase a MS Office 2013 license but message rules are so stupid to set and we can't even know if a new message has arrived if it's being redirected to a sub-folder...
Any suggestions? I would prefer to use Thunderbird but I can't afford to be sending replies with weird characters.

You sound like you know your way around language issues. So I have these suggestions:
1. look at the list of bug reports http://mzl.la/1LXovnT and if your issue is not listed, please file a new bug report 2. if there is any way you can help contribute code, please do so 3. help triage a few of the bug reports in http://mzl.la/1LXovnT
Thanks Wayne,
I'm not a developer. Actually there are some bugs that could be related to the issue, but I'm not sure to what extent.
Anyways, I've submitted a bug id=1180639 so the dev team can mark it as duplicated if there's already some other related bug. I'm sure it should be because I'm probably not the only one having this issue.
BTW, why is Thunderbird build number 38 stated as the latest one the program help > about Thunderbird box but at the same time I see versions up to 42 at the bugzilla frontoffice. Dev builds?
yes, 42 is part of the development track. not released
