I installed Pintrest Pin it add-on but the button is not on any tool bar so I can use it. I'm on a Mac using Yosemite 10.10.5 with ver 40.0.3 of Firefox

The bookmarklet did work. I'll leave that on the toolbar for now. Thanks

Could you check a couple things?

First, make sure the extension is enabled on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Cmd+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then look for the Pin-it extension on the right side. If it is disabled, it will be at the bottom on a grayed background.

Can you make sure it is enabled here?

Second, if the button does not appear in your existing window, could you try a new window in case it's a transient problem? You can launch a new window from the menu or using Command+n.

Next, could you make sure it's not on an "overflow" list toward the end of the toolbar? The icon for that list is a very heavy version of >> and that will show controls that do not fit on the bar.

If it's not there either, could you check with the button is available in Customize mode to be moved into the toolbar? This article describes the Customize feature: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

Any luck so far?

Add is enabled. It doesn't appear in any new window. I don't see the overflow symbol at end of toolbar. I don't see the button available when I go into customize. I do appreciate the suggestions.

I can only attest that it works on Windows (screen shot attached).

Could you check which version you have? On the Add-ons page, you can click the "More" link for the extension below its name and description. If you do not have 1.37.9, you may want to reinstall: https://about.pinterest.com/en/browser-button

I just installed on Safari. Just to see what would happen. It works fine. I'm not fond of that browser though. I do have version 1.37.9. This is really not a big deal. I just thought it was weird that it didn't work. So i figured I'd ask about it. We can close this for now. Thanks for your input.

Sorry I couldn't figure it out!

Sometimes two extensions fight with one another for toolbar space. If you have any extensions you don't really use, you could try disabling those to see whether it helps.

Otherwise, if you use the Bookmarks Toolbar, maybe the old "bookmarklet" version will work for you: https://about.pinterest.com/en/goodies -- use Find (Cmd+f) for loo to jump to a tiny link that says "Looking for the Pinterest Bookmarklet?" Clicking that will give you a rectangular button you can drag to your Bookmarks Toolbar or menu, as you prefer.
