Force to open java/text files in browser instead of downloading

more options

Some websites send java source files as mimetype text, which causes them to open in the browser like a normal text file. But other websites either send them as another mimetype, or they send them with "content-disposition:attachment", which causes Firefox to display a "Download file" popup. In most cases I would prefer to open the java source files directly in the browser.

So I would like to know: Is there a way to tell Firefox "Please open all .java files as text files in a browser tab" ? If it's not supported directly by Firefox, is there a plugin which offers this?

If neither is true, can I then ask for an improvement to Firefox to offer this feature? (For example, even if Firefox would allow to manually add filetypes to the "Options -> Applications" list, then this would still not allow to specify Firefox itself as the "Application" to be used to open a filetype. Maybe the solution would be to somehow have a mapping to "treat these filetypes as text". Or even better: to always allow the option to view any file from the web as text --> Like "F3 View file" in the *Commander applications)

Perhaps one or two of the following extensions can help (I have not tested any of them recently):

Overriding content type:

Overriding disposition:attachment:
