Firefox keeps telling me to update to 3.6.16 but I can't ever connect to the update server.

I get a reminder a few times a week to update Firefox to the latest version of 3.6.17. I click on the update button and my computer spends 30 minutes to an hour saying it's connecting to the update server, but nothing ever downloads.

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

Thank you! This worked perfectly, and my Firefox was updated in about 3 minutes.
